Your Hidden Strength / by Alexander Lyadov

You are much stronger, in every sense, than you think you are. Why?

A significant part of your resources is kept in reserve for a “What if...?” The decision was made unconsciously. That is how the body protects itself.

Don’t believe it? Try bench-pressing with a partner and without one. On your own, you will do 30–40 percent fewer reps.

Being pinned under a barbell is terrifying. Everything changes when a partner simply stands beside you. And if he touches the bar, suddenly you’re Superman.

The idea is simple: a sense of safety releases your hidden strength. And conversely, feeling unprotected makes you weaker than you really are.

Here’s the paradox: your capabilities depend on the presence of the Other. He merely looks at you, and boom! You set a new personal record.

Among other things, this is one of the secrets of business partnerships, brotherhood, and marriage. You are more likely to do what once seemed impossible because you know: “I am not alone.”

Curiously, when do your abilities reach their fullest potential?

When you have a reliable partner. A loyal team. A strong community.

But who can be with you absolutely always and in everything?

The One whom man so carelessly abandoned... and became weaker.

And remember: your presence may help someone move a mountain.

Sincerely yours,

-Alexander
