This photograph illustrates an important idea:
Life generates patterns that we later notice.
Here, even the form of the okra itself is primary, and only then the stamp.
The invisible process embodied itself in the stem and left a trace on the paper.
But you can’t take the process in your hands. It forever slips away. And even the dense form of the okra turns into nothing in a day or two.
Yet the colorful stamp can last for centuries. In the end the original process is forgotten. Now the okra is only an imprint.
Of course, I’m exaggerating, but I hope you get the point.
Form obscures function. This mistake is everywhere.
Replace “stamp” with any explicit, fixed form:
concept,
structure,
mechanism,
standard,
product,
building,
sign,
algorithm,
position,
regulation,
institution,
tradition,
law.
When someone (you yourself) tries to convince you that only the form exists…
