Sometimes you desperately want to help someone.
But if he didn’t specifically ask you, then maybe you shouldn’t.
“Maybe” covers help in any fire, flood, and the like.
In every other case there’s a strong chance you’re really trying to help yourself.
Some part of you is secretly suffering, yet saving that part is forbidden.
The ban can be so powerful that it feels like: “No, I’m fine.”
But certain traits of that part show up in someone else’s struggles.
And suddenly you’re already rushing at him with advice, trying to catch up and shield him.
While he stubbornly refuses, gets angry, and runs away—well, isn’t he a fool?
The worst evil is violence against a person in the name of love, care, and goodness.
Stripping a personality of free choice and forcing a “solution” down his throat.
How else can you tell that a person is running his life by his own will?
When he himself chooses to keep yearning, tormenting himself, suffering…
…even though help is always one step, one gesture, one word away.
Sincerely yours,
-Alexander
