There is something hypnotic about patterns.
Especially when no one but you can see them.
On the one hand, a pattern soothes because it has structure.
On the other hand, there is excitement from the mystery: Who left it? How will it develop further? What is the meaning of this pattern at all?
Most importantly, a pattern is an example of order emerging from chaos.
Just a moment ago there was amorphous nonsense and suddenly the eye notices a design.
Such a “discovery” should have a calming effect on the psyche.
Even if just a little, the level of order in the Universe has increased.
And all the more so when you manage to notice patterns in your own world:
the behavior of significant people,
strange coincidences and dreams,
repeating mistakes,
the dramaturgy of relationships with others,
the movements of society, the market, and culture,
your own way of thinking, feeling, and acting.
Often, a pattern is the first embodiment of something that supposedly doesn’t exist.
Sincerely yours,
-Alexander
